Livestock..
The Somaliland economy depends heavily on livestock trade. It has been estimated to be over 300 million dollars annually. The people of Somaliland have been trading livestock with countries in the Arabian Peninsula for over two centuries. However, it became difficult in the past years due to livestock illnesses and global supply chain challenges. Every year, these countries are returning ships with animals, and many livestock merchants are losing their investments due to the outdated livestock trade system. Our goal is to change this method of trade and to invest in animal husbandries. At start, we will invest in a small farm which produces clean, healthy and disease-free meat, especially lamb meat for the local market. When we succeed, we will ask our community to invest, so that we can reach the international markets.
